Mentor Andrew M. says:
Snacking is seen as a bad thing by many, but luckily this is not the case, as long as your snack is healthy and not excessive.
Snacking helps your metabolism to continue burning fats and building muscle with proper nutrition and exercise. The trick is to not let yourself get to the hangry (hunger and anger), “I can eat a horse” stage. Eat a small snack when you start to get hungry. Some healthy options would be fruit with peanut butter, plain Greek yogurt mixed with a scoop of chocolate protein powder, and baked potatoes wedges.
There are plenty of good snacks for those of you on the go. Dried fruit is great, just be sure to watch the amount of sugar or sweeteners added. A small amount packs lots of sugar, so stick to the regular serving size. Raw or lightly flavored nuts such as almonds have great amounts of protein and healthy fats. Any dried meat is a solid choice, just be sure to look at the amount of sodium (salt) and sugars added.
Chips are not the best for you, but we all love them. A good way of choosing a decent chip is looking to see if they are whole 30 compliant. Whole 30 is a diet plan that aims to eliminate unnatural additives. Cape Cod sea salt chips are my favorite whole 30 compliant chips.
Get creative with your snacks and don’t be afraid to mix and match to add more flavor. Healthy snacking can greatly improve your health, just make sure to find the things you like and enjoy what you’re eating, otherwise it’s very hard to stick to healthy options.
