Trying to reduce your environmental impact can be hard while at college, but lucky NAU is making an effort to become more sustainable! NAU is trying to do their part in becoming more sustainable, which makes it even easier for students and faculty! These are some things that you can take part in to reduce your impact at NAU.
- Dining – Bring your own containers, silverware, and straws! This prevents excess waste and allows you to reduce your impact. Another thing you can do is use the O2GO containers, all you have to do is ask for a reusable container when ordering food on campus, and then when you are finished eating return the container to the OZZI machine.
- Recycle – Learn what you can and what you cannot recycle. You can recycle metal cans that are clean, paper and cardboard, plastic bottles, jugs, and jars. You cannot recycle plastic bags, aerosol cans or glass. Special items like glass can be taken to specific recycling plants.
- Get Involved – NAU has so many educational clubs and events to help you become more sustainable! There are four gardens on campus that host events, the SLLUG Garden, Snail Garden, Shand Garden, and the Green House Research Complex. There are clubs and programs like Green Jacks, and the Sustainable Citizen Program that help raise awareness about sustainability!
