Mountain biking has a huge presence in Flagstaff, especially among college students looking for a way to blow off steam and have some fun. The only issue is that a lot of the biking trails are quite far away; they either require you to drive or bike there. But that doesn’t have to be the case, because most people don’t know that a huge part of the Arizona Trail is right at NAU’s back doorstep.
If you’re ever on south campus, looking for a way to exercise and get a good pedal in, then I recommend heading to this elaborate trail system. There are so many fun and flowy trails that appeal to a multitude of skill levels. The trails range from flat, twisty, and fast to chunky, long, and steep. I highly recommend these trials for a couple of reasons. One is that it is a part of the urban trail system and therefore connects to the Arizona Trial; for that reason, you’ll see and communicate with a lot of people and possibly make some riding buddies. Another reason is the scenery that you’ll be welcomed too; it doesn’t get more beautiful than this. To get there, refer to the map directions below.
