… I knew how to accurately calculate grades!
As we begin to head into finals and the end of the semester, it is important to know where you stand in your classes so you can finish strong. One of the most common questions I get from my mentees is how to calculate your grade…but I am happy to tell you it is incredibly easy to do!
In many of your syllabi, the total possible points in the class should be listed, this could be anywhere between 100 or even more than 1000 points for all your assignments. Take this number and use it to divide the points you have earned thus far: Points earned / Total possible points. Once you have done this, you know where you stand with your grades now. From here, you can change the “points earned” to reflect the best case scenario (maybe you earn all points still remaining) and calculate realistic goals (say you get a B on the final, how many points is that? Add that number into points earned) for the remainder of the semester. If the total possible points is not available in your syllabi, you can add up the points all your assignments are worth. Now you know how to calculate your grades! Go and crush the rest of the semester; finish strong!
