Do you enjoy eating pizza that’s not the Wedge or Dominos? Do you have some extra money to spend? Would you want to see a chandelier made of wine bottles? If anyone is reading this and answered yes to any of these questions, then Grimaldi’s should be on your list of restaurants to try. Grimaldi’s Pizzeria is not your typical pizza joint. The atmosphere of the restaurant is very mellow and relaxed yet professional and high class, so make sure to lift your pinkies when you drink and wear your fanciest hoodie. The staff are super down to earth and friendly and will be sure to offer you a good experience. To be honest, it feels more like an Italian restaurant than a dedicated Pizzeria which makes it elevate far beyond fast food.
Be prepared because this different atmosphere and vibe come at a cost, literally. Don’t be surprised to spend much more than you are accustomed to paying for a pizza because their pies are definitely more expensive than a $5 hot and ready pizza. If you split an 18-inch pizza with another person, the bill will likely be around 12 bucks each. Although the price might be a deterrent for the average college student, the food is well worth the cost for a special occasion. When I went I shared two 18 inch pizzas, one Pesto and the other Pepperoni, with four other people and we still had extras to take home. Also a pro-tip, bread is free but you have to ask for it or they won’t bring it out for you.
Grimaldi’s is open from 11 AM to 10 PM Sunday to Thursday and 11 AM to 11 PM Friday and Saturday. It is just off of north campus by the Grove and REI next to all of those fancy apartments. If you have a special occasion and want to splurge for a tasty pie, you should definitely swing by Grimaldi’s.
