Sometimes in the semester, you really just need to change your space to get a new perspective and help finish out the semester strong. For some people, just rearranging the space really helps but for others it means getting some new decor. My essentials this week are some trendy items to get for your space to make your space seem brand new from the start of the semester.
Number 1: Fairy Lights
Fairy lights are a great way to spruce up your space and add a little bit of extra light if needed. You can find fairy lights at Michael’s (there is one near campus) and you can get the ones that are powered by battery or that you can plug in, whatever is the most convenient (for dorms I would definitely recommend battery power). My freshman year, I felt that something was missing from my dorm and I always wish I had a little more light under my bed for when my roommate went to sleep and I was still studying. These little lights give just enough light and really make a space more magical.
Number 2: Hangable Tapestry
Hangable Tapestries probably seem so 2017 but they are a great way to add a little something to your space. As I have walked around some open windows recently I have also come to realize that you don’t have to get a tapestry with the typical design on it. You can get tapestry with patterns and design that really suit you as a student. Tapestries can get quite pricey but I think that these can also be a fun project to DIY as well. Get some paint, white fabric and do a paint-splattered tapestry. This little detail can make your dorm feel a little bit more like your own and then you have it to keep as the years go on.
Redecorating or reorganizing is a great way to get a fresh new look on the semester and have a renewed space to do it in. With these items getting the Kaylee Stamp of Approval, I promise that your dorm will look the coolest in the hall.
