The Sponsored Project Lifecycle
Find funding
The first step in any sponsored project is locating a source of funding for your research. We make that process as simple as possible with our dedicated staff, tools, and resources.
GrantForward
Northern Arizona University’s Office of Sponsored Projects has subscribed to the GrantForward Funding Opportunity Search and Recommendation service, which is open to all members of our institution.
GrantForward helps you find grant opportunities that suit your research needs with a database of grants from over 13,000 sponsors which is updated daily. You can search for grants by keywords and advanced filters, save your favorite searches for new grant alerts, and save your favorite grants to keep track of them. GrantForward also recommends grants to you based on your CV, past publications, and research interests. View overview video.
Access GrantForward and log in to your account. To create an account, sign up using your NAU email, or contact OSP-GrantForward@nau.edu and request a GrantForward account.
For information about your GrantForward account, or for additional assistance updating your password, please view the Viewing Account Settings quick tip video.
We also encourage you to take a few minutes to create your “Researcher Profile” (see quick demo) to receive funding opportunities!
To assist faculty and staff with navigating GrantForward to locate funding opportunities, the OSP has organized GrantForward demonstration sessions. For demo date and time, please see information sessions.
To participate in a session, please email OSP-RSVP@nau.edu and include your name, unit/division, and session you would like to participate.
Please download the GrantForward Researcher Welcome Guide to quickly get started with using GrantForward. You can also find additional tutorials and guides on the GrantForward Support page, or view the video tutorials on their YouTube Channel. If you have any questions please contact OSP-GrantForward@nau.edu.
External funding opportunities
Intramural funding opportunities
The university provides a number of internal grant and award opportunities for faculty, staff, and even students participating in research and scholarly activity. There are also funding programs available to researchers to support the development of external grant proposals. View information about internal grant and award opportunities.
