Graduate Student Government (GSG)
has joined the Associated Students of
Northern Arizona University (ASNAU)
As of Summer 2026, the Graduate Student Government (GSG) has joined the Associated Students of NAU (ASNAU). This transition creates a more unified and representative student governance structure, strengthening ASNAU’s ability to advocate for and serve all students at the Flagstaff Mountain Campus and across the NAU Community.
What is staying the same?
- Graduate student representation on NAU, Flagstaff community, and Arizona Board of Regents (ABOR) committees will continue to be supported by ASNAU graduate student staff members, ensuring ongoing graduate student representation and engagement.
- The commitment to supporting and advocating for NAU’s graduate student body.
- Professional Development Funding Awards process.
- The annual Spring Graduate Poster Symposium.
What is different?
- To ensure graduate priorities remain visible and well-supported, a new Vice President of Graduate Student Affairs has been added to the ASNAU Executive Team.
- Two new graduate student ASNAU staff positions will be added to continue administering professional development funding and supporting initiatives such as the Spring Graduate Poster Symposium.
- Current Flagstaff Mountain Campus students, who pay the 23 Fee will have access to more on-campus events including the Homecoming Carnival and resources, receive additional support for students and clubs including access to “Club Headquarters,” and the ASNAU Care Corner. Graduate students enrolled outside of the Flagstaff Mountain Campus may opt into the 23 Fee to access these benefits.
Together, ASNAU and GSG are excited to begin this new chapter, continuing to support and advocate for students while building a stronger, more connected NAU community.
