New Online Exhibit: Flagstaff 2020: A Clear Vision

Posted by Courtney on July 22, 2020

Flagstaff 2020: A Clear Vision

Flagstaff 2020: A Clear Vision, an online-only exhibit, curated by NAU student Marley Oakes, commemorates Flagstaff 2020, a community visioning process for the community of Flagstaff, Arizona which took place in 1996-1997.  Flagstaff 2020: A Clear Vision draws upon documents, ephemera, photographs, video recordings, and oral history interviews from the Flagstaff 2020 Records to provide a retrospective view of Flagstaff 2020. It summarizes all aspects of the community visioning process and provides insight into whether and how the community’s vision for the greater Flagstaff area in the year 2020 was realized.

On Thursday, July 2, Samantha Meier and Marley Oakes organized a wonderful panel of speakers to share their Flagstaff 2020 experience while taking a virtual tour of the new exhibit.  The panel included Flagstaff 2020 Project Coordinator Kathy Turner,  NAU Professor Fred Solor, and expert consultant Steven Ames. Here is the direct link to the recording of the Facebook Live event: https://www.facebook.com/NAUCL/videos/vb.55376814461/1014708362259661/    A captioned version will be posted on Cline Library’s YouTube page within the next few weeks. This captioned video will also be added to the online exhibit.
