A senior with a dual major in Comparative Cultural Studies and History and a Museum Studies minor, Alexandra Williams, curated the exhibition currently on display in the Cline Library, “TIMBER! Northern Arizona’s Logging Legacy.” Williams led the curation of this exhibition as part of her Elizabeth and P. T. Reilly Internship during the summer of 2024 at the Cline Library. Williams’s personal research interests in the environmental humanities, her future goals continuing research in museum studies, and experience as the captain of the NAU logging team were all brought to bear on this ambitious project. The exhibition collects a timeline of logging history of region. According to Williams, “The whole reason our brand is centered around the lumberjack is because of our logging legacy…. I hope that my exhibit brings the lesser-known history of Flagstaff to light, and I hope that NAU students will more proudly own their identities as NAU Lumberjacks.” Read more about the project and hear more from Williams in the NAU Review article about the project.
