Multiple representation of media

Audio Description

Audio description provides a verbal description of the visual images created in theater, television, movies, and other art forms.  It is commentary or narration that yields  information to the listener that helps them to understand what is being presented to sighted users.

Captions

Captions an be provided in an “open” or “closed” format.  Open captions are on and cannot be turned off by the user.  Closed captions can be turned on and off by the user.  There is the possibility of being able to customize the appearance of the captions to meet the users needs, such as size, color, font, and background color.  They should not only provide what is being spoken, with punctuation, but also include sound effects, music, and other noises that appear in the audio or video file.
