SAC Annual Report 2021-2022

Posted by McKenzie on May 3, 2022

CELEBRATING THE FIRST YEAR OF THE STAFF ADVISORY COUNCIL

By José Diaz Aquino, President of SAC

Serving as president, I have had the honor of making so many new connections across campus, hosting meetings and advocating on behalf of the people who make this university run. After a year filled with so many accomplishments like welcoming a new university president, creating the new SAC, recruiting new members and supporting record breaking service projects, I can only feel pride.

During the summer of 2021, the Classified Staff Advisory Council and Service Professional Advisory Council negotiated a significant merger of the two councils to create something new. Something that would better serve our staff and streamline discussions with executive leadership. I would say that has been achieved. I look forward to the continued excellence of this council.

The Staff Advisory Council provides a forum for discussing the role of staff, and for understanding, sharing, and supporting staff interests throughout the university community. The Staff Advisory Council advocates for the needs of staff and serves as a conduit for communication and information exchange between university staff and executive leadership on existing and proposed policies, procedures, and programs that impact or are of interest to staff. We also provide and foster opportunities for community outreach and engagement.

STAY INVOLVED

The Staff Advisory Council will host its first meeting of the 2022-2023 academic year on August 18th at the ARD Large Pod. All staff are invited to attend the meetings, in person or virtually.

This summer SAC is planning multiple service and engagement opportunities. For more information please email SAC@nau.edu.
