College Knowing & Going Accordion Closed
The College Knowing & Going (CKG) initiative, in partnership with the Northern Arizona College Resource Center (NACRC), aims to foster college readiness and increase access to higher education for underserved students across Arizona. Through collaborative efforts, this partnership focuses on supporting low-income, first-generation students, particularly in Northern Arizona, to ensure they graduate high school prepared for postsecondary opportunities.
At its core, CKG builds College Readiness Teams composed of high school administration, teachers, counselors, community members, and postsecondary partners who work together to create a school-wide culture promoting higher education. The teams use data-driven strategies to enhance academic success, encourage FAFSA completion, and strengthen the overall college-going mindset within their schools. The NACRC supports this initiative by providing resources and information to students regarding post-secondary pathways and opportunities.
Together, they provide the tools and support systems necessary for Northern Arizona students to navigate the complex transition from high school to college successfully.
- FAFSA Completion Support: CKG schools have seen a 10% increase in FAFSA completion rates, ensuring more students access financial aid for postsecondary education.
- Postsecondary Enrollment Growth: Enrollment rates increased by 4% at CKG partner schools, reflecting the program’s impact on encouraging students to pursue higher education.
- School-Wide College-Going Culture: CKG works with high school faculty, staff, and administration to create a culture where college and career readiness is a shared responsibility.
- Tailored College Readiness Teams: These teams develop school-specific strategies to enhance college access and postsecondary success, using data-driven approaches to track progress and set goals.
- Dual Enrollment & CTE Courses: Partner schools offer dual enrollment and Career and Technical Education (CTE) classes, helping students earn college credits and explore career pathways while in high school.
- Student & Family Engagement: CKG emphasizes innovative ways to engage families in postsecondary planning and decision-making, helping to build supportive networks for students.
- Targeting Underserved Students: The initiative focuses on low-income, first-generation, and underserved students, working to bridge the gap in college readiness for these communities.
