Semester Zero

Semester Zero, an exciting partnership between Northern Arizona University (NAU) and College Track, brings an immersive college experience to life for first-generation and underserved high school juniors from across the nation. This summer program, held on NAU’s Flagstaff Mountain Campus, is designed to help students prepare for college with hands-on academic and personal development—all against the breathtaking backdrop of Flagstaff, Arizona.

What is Semester Zero?

  • A National Initiative: Semester Zero invites rising juniors from each of College Track’s 12 centers across the country to live on NAU’s campus for a summer, previewing college life and connecting with peers from diverse backgrounds.
  • Purpose-Driven Program: It empowers first-generation students to solidify their college aspirations through unique, enriching experiences that build confidence and readiness for college life.

What to Expect

Participants dive into college life with a blend of structured activities and personal exploration:

  • Daily Schedule: Mornings and afternoons are filled with sessions on academic topics, career insights, and personal growth, such as:
    • Convocations, wellness tours, and academic panels
    • Career-focused discussions and hands-on college prep sessions
  • Evening Activities: Social engagement and recreational choices, like volleyball, film screenings, and yoga, encourage students to build friendships and unwind after a day of learning.
  • Village Time: Evening gatherings allow students to connect, reflect on the day, and reinforce a sense of community with peers.

A Unique College Track Cohort at NAU Honors College

NAU’s partnership with College Track extends beyond summer with a dedicated cohort program in NAU’s Honors College. This innovative model supports College Track scholars through their entire college journey.
