Facilities rental
The Merriam-Powell Research Station (MPRS) primarily provides affordable housing and research facilities to scientists and students conducting field research in northern Arizona. Additionally, the MPRS offers affordable day-long and overnight meeting and retreat facilities to educational, scientific, non-profit, and governmental organizations, including NAU-affiliated groups. On the grounds of The Arboretum at Flagstaff, the MPRS is approximately 5 miles west of Flagstaff, Arizona.
Facilities
MPRS facilities are available for rental March 15 through November 1. The facilities offered by MPRS include overnight housing and a large meeting room.
- Housing: Two bunkrooms and a two-bedroom apartment provided housing to individuals or groups of up to 20 people in the main building. From May 1 to September 30, two platform tents that can each comfortably accommodate four guests are also available by special arrangement. Amenities for overnight guests include wireless internet, a full basic kitchen, BBQ grill, and laundry facilities. The linen fee includes pillow, sheets, blanket, and towel for one-time fee.
- Meeting Room: The meeting room can comfortably accommodate 30 people and as many as 40 people. Included in the rental price is the use of wireless internet, projector and screen, white boards, and access to a full basic kitchen.
Meetings and retreats
MPRS facilities are available for day-long or overnight retreats, workshops, and meetings. Slightly off the beaten path and in a beautiful setting, MPRS is a perfect place for a meeting.
The MPRS has played host to workshops and meetings for a wide range of organizations, including the Institute of Tribal Environmental Professionals, Bird Conservancy of the Rockies, and University of Arizona’s Laboratory of Tree-Ring Research.

Before you arrive
MPRS requires a signed liability waiver form for you or your group.
Since the MPRS is a little off the beaten path, be sure to bring the map and directions with you.
