Faculty and Staff Services
There are a variety of ways to integrate the Lumberjack Writing Center into your classroom and courses. You may also anonymously refer a student to us, and we’ll reach out to invite them to an appointment.
Collaborate on writing assignments
Set up a meeting with us to discuss how we can best collaborate on assignments, projects, and presentations, so that your students can improve their writing or get the most out of their writing sessions. This may look like writing an assignment collaboratively or requiring students to make a writing center appointment as part of their assignment.
Work with us to create the following types of assignments:
- Journals, including field-notes, research, or visual media
- Professional emails to professors, employers, or public audiences
- Progress rports
- Online blogs
- Proposals
- Artist profiles

Writing Ambassador program
The Writing Ambassador program is designed to bring enhanced writing instruction and support to students across the disciplines. Writing Ambassadors are embedded in disciplinary writing intensive courses where they provide mini lessons and workshops, feedback on drafts, individual tutoring sessions, writing resources, and more, depending on the needs of the instructor and department. Writing Ambassadors are trained Writing Assistants with the Lumberjack Writing Center who have demonstrated excellence in supporting student writing. Faculty interested in having Writing Ambassadors in their courses should contact Alana Kuhlman, Lumberjack Writing Center Associate Director at Alana.Kuhlman@nau.edu.
