Graduate student writing assistance
If you are a graduate student at NAU, the Lumberjack Writing Center would be delighted to support you with your thesis or dissertation, course assignments, and scholarship or job applications.
Set up an appointment
To view our schedule and set up an appointment for writing assistance related to course assignments or job applications, visit our online schedule, WCOnline. Use your NAU ID (for example, xy123) to activate your account. On our online schedule you may read Writing Assistant bios to find a tutor who best fits your needs.
The LWC offers appointments at three locations on the Flagstaff Mountain Campus. Appointments are offered at Cline Library (Rm. 240), the IMQ/Office of Inclusion (University Fieldhouse), SBS Castro 3rd Floor, and Online. Our hours vary by location. To view up-to-date information on hours and locations, see our online schedule.
Review-and-Return Services
The LWC offers asynchronous review services for upper-level undergraduate and graduate students who have specific, content-related feedback requests. To submit an assignment or piece of writing for Review-and-Return, log into our WCOnline schedule using your NAU ID and navigate to the Spring 2025 Review-and-Return page.
Please note that Review-and-Return is not a copyediting service for formatting or citation style corrections. However, you may meet with a Writing Assistant to review and expand your formatting skills by scheduling a synchronous appointment.
DATA (Dissertation and Thesis Appointments)
Graduate students may schedule DATA (Dissertation and Thesis Appointments) with us to set up 5 consecutive appointments with the same tutor to focus on a specific aspect of your dissertation or thesis. DATA is not a copyediting service but can help guide you through correct formatting. To schedule DATA, send us an email at writingcenter@nau.edu or call us at 928-523-7745.
