Certificate in Effective Writing Instruction
The Lumberjack Writing Center offers a Certificate in Effective Writing Instruction for NAU faculty across the disciplines who are interested in effectively integrating writing into their courses. Upon completion of this multi-session professional development series, faculty will receive a certificate of completion. The series explores a variety of writing-related topics that are relevant to participants’ interests. Potential session topics include creating effective writing prompts, providing meaningful feedback and grading efficiently, adopting equitable and inclusive practices, managing the use of artificial intelligence, providing writing resources for students, and more.

New cohorts begin each Fall semester and continue throughout the academic year.

Participants meet approximately six times throughout the academic year.

Cohorts form early in the Fall semester, and interested faculty can sign up for the series through the Teaching and Learning Center’s website. Note that registration typically opens in June and remains open until mid-September. Any questions about the series can be directed to iwriting@nau.edu.
