Training
All members of the research team are expected to complete online training prior to conducting any activities related to the human research.
Researchers should complete training prior to the IRBNet submission. HRPP staff verify training at intake. If training is not completed, the submission package will be withdrawn in 7 days and must be re-submitted.
NAU Researchers: Northern Arizona University (NAU) research faculty, staff, advisors and students must complete the NAU human subjects component of the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) online training program. The IRB CITI training certification is valid for a four-year period, after which time refresher training must be completed. It is recommended that a copy of the completion certificate is printed and maintained. If CITI training was completed prior to 2019, training is valid for a three-year period.
Courses that qualify for the IRB.
- Social, Behavioral, and Education Research
- Health and Human Services, Biomedical Research
External Researchers: Research personnel not affiliated with NAU must also have CITI training. Anyone can create an account with CITI and affiliate with NAU. In lieu of the NAU CITI training requirement, NAU may accept documentation of human subjects training completion in accordance with a researchers’ home institutions’ policy.
