We believe Academic Advisors are teachers, who not only support students as they navigate their first-year academic experience, but also instill skills and knowledge students need to be successful for their tenure at NAU and beyond. We are committed to empowering student learning, self-direction, informed decision making, and positive degree progression.
First-Year Advisors support their students in the mastery of the First Year Academic Advising Learning Outcomes. These essential skills will empower students to navigate NAU life, track their progress, and pick classes effectively, ensuring they are on track for not only a timely graduation but a fulfilling and meaningful NAU experience.
To support student learning and mastery of the outcomes, advisors deliver the First Year Academic Advising Curriculum using a highly innovative, individualized advising model that focuses on a student’s prior knowledge, interests, and unique needs.
