NAU Road Scholar

Lifelong learning on the Colorado Plateau—and beyond

Boston-based Road Scholar is the world leader in educational travel for older adults– a true university of the world – offering 5,500 extraordinary learning adventures in 150 countries and 50 states. Part of Northern Arizona University’s School of Hotel and Restaurant Management, NAU Road Scholar offers learning adventures all over the desert Southwest, serving more than 4,000 participants per year.

We are a diverse community of knowledge seekers and explorers, united in the belief that lifelong learning is a vital part of overall wellbeing. We believe in living life to the fullest at every age — by meeting new people, touching history where it happened, and delving deep into the cultures and landscapes of the Colorado Plateau and beyond. In the American Southwest, a saguaro cactus stands sentry over a desert jackrabbit. An abandoned cliff dwelling is a reminder of Native American heritage.
