The first step to determining file-sharing (“smb”) issues is to use an on-campus, NAU-managed resource, to verify that account issues are not present.

NAU has a convenient “Remote Apps” service where, through just a web-browser, you can control an on-campus windows computer. (Technically, it’s a virtual machine.)

    1. in a modern/update web-browser, navigate to apps.nau.edu
    2. chose the web-based client
    3. sign in with your standard NAU credentials
    4. open “System Tools > File Explorer”
    5. in the location box, enter one following exactly*
      • \\minim.hpc.nau.edu\abc123
      • \\minim.hpc.nau.edu\scratch\abc123

*exactly, except for replacing “abc123” with your own user-ID, of course

Since you provide your credentials to this “Remote Apps” environment upon logging into it, the expectation is that if the resource is correctly functioning, then access to the file-share should be unproblematic. This gif below demonstrates.
