Orchestra Ensemble Auditions
Audition information
NAU Orchestra String Placement Auditions for Fall 2026 will be video recorded by each auditioner and uploaded to a Google Drive link on the Ensemble Placement Reference Canvas page. Placement excerpts for ensembles and audition instructions will also be accessible through Canvas.
Orchestra audition materials
To access the audition materials for this upcoming semester, please complete the following steps:
- Self-enroll in the Canvas course “Ensemble Placement Reference”.
- Log into Canvas by using your NAU ID.
- On the Ensemble Placement Reference home page, you can now view and download your instrument’s audition excerpt as a PDF.
Membership in the NAU Symphony and/or NAU Chamber Orchestra requires an audition, EACH SEMESTER.
Symphony Orchestra, including strings/winds/brass/percussion, rehearses Mon/Wed from 3:30-6:00pm in the Performing Arts Center.
Chamber Orchestra, strings only, rehearses Fridays from 3:30-6:00pm in the Performing Arts Center
Both ensembles are open to music majors, minors, and non-majors.
There is only one audition for admittance into both ensembles.
Those who are only joining Chamber Orchestra should send an email request for other audition materials. If you require assistance in downloading or require other assistance accessing the musical excerpts, please contact music@nau.edu.
