Faculty Research and Creative Activity Support Grants


We are not issuing a call for proposals for the Faculty Research and Creative Activity Support Grant during this 2026–2027 academic school year. While this program is paused, the Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR) is available to discuss potential alternatives for program support as needed.

Purpose

The Faculty Research and Creative Activity Support Grants are intended to enable the acquisition of pilot data for research or creative activities to facilitate applications to extramural sponsors. The intent of this grant program is to invest into efforts that seed funding of extramural sponsored programs or that bridges a gap in extramural support in order to increase the competitiveness of the PI for further external funding.

Eligibility

Applicants to this program must meet all eligibility requirements listed in the General Rules for Intramural Funding Opportunities.

Additionally, the following restrictions also apply to this program.

  • Faculty members working under active start-up packages are not eligible to apply (as PIs or co-PIs) to this program.
  • No more than one support grant may be awarded to a faculty member in a 12-month period (as PI or co-PI).

Faculty Research and Creative Activity Support Grant applicants may request up to $10,000.

Award period
Funds are awarded for a 12-month period.

Eligible uses of award funds

Award funds must be used according to the requirements set forth in the “Allowable and Unallowable Costs” section of the General Rules for Intramural Funding Opportunities.

The following program specific rules also apply.

Applications for Faculty Research and Creative Activity Support Grants will be considered once per year. We are not issuing a call for proposals for the Faculty Research and Creative Activity Support Grant during this 2026–2027 academic school year. The body of the proposal must be written using the Narrative Template provided and the document must be saved as a PDF. The PDF document must be saved as follows: FSGYEAR_Last name of applicant_First name of applicant, e.g., FSG2023_Smith_John.

Applications for funding must be submitted electronically through the submission form. Applicants must complete all informational sections in the portal and attach the completed Narrative Template as a PDF. Please direct any questions regarding this process to ovpr@nau.edu.
