Project closure
All research applications must be submitted to the IRB through IRBNet, an externally hosted software product. All IRB forms must be obtained from the IRBNet Forms and Templates library.
Investigators are responsible for concluding human research activities as soon as possible after a project is completed and/or no longer involves human subjects.
Projects not renewed by the expiration date of the project are considered administratively closed by the Human Research Protection Program (HRPP) Office, and all human subjects research activities must cease as of the expiration date.
Closure submission
To close your project, you will need to create a new package within your currently approved project.
Items required for all project closures
- Complete and upload the Closure Form.
- The PI must sign the package. Student projects must be signed by the faculty advisor as well as by the student PI.
- Submit the package by clicking the “Submit” button in IRBNet. Select “Closure/Final Report” from the “Submission Type” dropdown options.
Additional requirements
- A summary explanation for questions in the Closure Form.
- Access instructional videos for guidance on IRB submissions, review processes, and human research requirements.
