Welcome!

Join the NACC, ONAIA and the OISS in celebration of

Native American Heritage Month 2020!

Native American Heritage Month recognizes the significance of Native American history, culture, and issues and what this means to our students, faculty, staff, and the local Flagstaff community. Did you know that in 1990, former President George H.W. Bush proclaimed November as National American Indian Heritage Month, more commonly known as Native American Heritage Month? This commemoration was a means for Native Americans to share and educate the public on issues surrounding tribes, on culture and traditions, and to work towards collaborative efforts to assist tribal communities. In previous years, NAU has celebrated Native American Heritage Month with various activities throughout the month of November, this year, a things are much different, we are celebrating through a virtual platform, we will be hosting film discussions, recipe and frybread tutorials, Navajo stories and knowledge, critical discussions of issues surrounding tribal communities, and a guest speaker to discuss various aspects of the Native American experience. We would like to take the time this month to educate people about the important contributions that Native Americans have made to our country and communities. We are personally inviting you to attend any of our Native American Heritage Month events, thank you for your support!
