Arizona Cancer Caucus Press Release – May 15, 2024 Accordion Closed
The Arizona Cancer Action Caucus, supported by the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network, held its inaugural meeting to address cancer’s impact in Arizona. This bipartisan group, all personally affected by cancer, aims to improve access to care and early detection, focusing on vulnerable populations. With cancer as Arizona’s second leading cause of death, the caucus seeks to reduce the cancer burden statewide.

NCI Roundtable: “Improving cancer outcomes—Bringing research to rural communities” Accordion Closed
The National Cancer Institute (NCI) hosted a virtual roundtable conversation as part of the White House Cancer Cabinet Community Conversations series from July 8–17, 2024. This series provides updates on progress to advance Biden Cancer Moonshot priority actions and receive input on efforts still needed to deliver on Cancer Moonshot goals.
On Wednesday, July 10, the conversation focused on “Improving cancer outcomes—Bringing research to rural communities”.

2024 – 2029 Arizona State Cancer Control Plan is now live! Accordion Closed
“The 2024-2029 Arizona Cancer Control Plan (AzCCP) is the state’s five-year strategy to fight against cancer and reduce the cancer burden. It serves as a collaboration among individuals and organizations committed to improving Arizona’s cancer incidence and mortality rates. It has been said, “Cancer affects everyone, but not everyone equally.” With that said, this plan focuses on addressing the disproportionate systematic, environmental and socio-economic impact cancer has on Arizona’s residents in specific geographic areas most affected by cancer and cancer risk factors.”

NIH CEAL CEACR Webinar Series – “Moving from Knowledge to Action: Using Research to Change Policy and Practice” Accordion Closed

Covered topics include: Relationship building, cancer among Native Americans, Establishing Trust, Emotional Support Skills, Reflection, Teamwork, Facilitation, Starting a Support Group.

Two-Year Community Grants for Patient Navigation – Apply Now! Accordion Closed
The Prevent Cancer Foundation is funding grants of $100,000 over two years ($50,000 per year) for organizations to develop new or implement existing patient navigation projects in cancer prevention and early detection.
Proposed projects must:
- Support community projects or programs in the United States (includes tribes and territories)
- Focus on preventing cancer or finding it early through patient navigation
- Utilize best practices and partnerships to promote health equity within their communities, particularly for individuals disproportionately impacted by cancer
