Biography

Sandra “Bernice” Gover serves as the Indian Education Director for Holbrook Unified School District #3, where she advocates for culturally responsive education for Native American students. A proud Pawnee/Choctaw and third-generation educator, Bernice brings over a decade of teaching and leadership experience. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Haskell Indian Nations University and a Master of Arts in Reading from Grand Canyon University.
Bernice also served two years as a student board member on the National Indian Education Association (NIEA) Board, where she contributed to national efforts advocating for Native education. Currently, she is pursuing her M.Ed. in Educational Leadership through Northern Arizona University’s American Indian School Leadership Program, focusing on advancing Indigenous education through innovative and culturally responsive strategies.
Her leadership is rooted in fostering equitable educational environments that celebrate and support the cultural identities and needs of Native students. Bernice will graduate from NAU on December 13th, continuing her dedication to inspiring meaningful change in Indigenous academia.
