Louie’s Leftovers
Program description
Louie’s Leftovers is a program aimed to reduce food waste by providing a notification through NAUgo to let students know when there is leftover food at campus events. The program went live in November of 2018 and has been a success at supporting NAU’s food insecure students.
How to participate — Students
Students that participate in the Louie’s Leftovers program receive a push notification via the NAUgo app on their phone that communicates the location of the food and how long the food will be available.
All NAU students are eligible to enroll in the program.
To register for the program, students must have the NAUgo app downloaded on their phone. If you do not already have the app, choose the link below that corresponds with your phone operating system…
- Apple iOS device: free download from the iTunes App Store
- Android smartphone or tablet: free download from Android Market
You must have notifications enabled for the app.
Once you have the app installed on your phone, you must opt-in the the Louie’s Leftovers notification channel. Please refer to the following instructions on how to opt-in.
How to participate — Catered Event Hosts
When completing the catering order form, select the Louie’s Leftovers check box. Note: Checking this box does not mean that you know that you will definitely have leftovers, it simply means that, if you do have leftovers, you would like to participate in the program.
Once your event have ended, and you do have leftover food, contact the Student Technology Center at 928-523-9294. They will ask you for a few pieces of information used to populate the communication file in NAUgo. They will be responsible for sending out the notification.
