Find your community

Science and research often seem like solitary activities, but research is really very collaborative. That’s why a diversity of scientists and ideas is so important for discovery and learning – great ideas come from conversations between people who think about things differently. And where do those great conversations happen? Not always at a lab bench – often while having fun getting to know new people!

Find other scientists and researchers who get where you are coming from and support where you are going – explore  the clubs and community groups at NAU that will let you bring your whole self to your learning and work:

  • Society for the Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS)
  • American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES)
  • Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers
  • Out in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (oSTEM)
  • Women Who Compute
  • Society of Women Engineers

There are also many more clubs and research groups at NAU building community for students from a diversity of backgrounds – check them out at the Office of Inclusion’s clubs and organizations page.
