Project Title: Natural and Cultural Resource Support
Responses to this Request for Statements of Interest will be used to identify potential investigators for a project to be funded by US Army Garrison Fort Hunter Liggett, California which provides professional and technical support for its in order to facilitate successful implementation of the.
Approximately $1,341,000.00 is expected to be available to support this project. Additional funding may be available for follow on work in subsequent fiscal years to the successful Recipient/Awardee.
Note: Must be a non-federal partner in the CESU Unit to be qualified to be considered.
Brief Description of Anticipated Work:
This research focuses on the following objectives:
1) Objective 1: Natural Resources Program Support.
a) Threatened and Endangered Species Survey and Monitoring. Review, develop and adapt protocols to ensure efficient methods that benefit listed species; conduct surveys and monitoring, and prepare reports and co-author management plans with USAG FHL. Monitor distribution and abundance of target species as well as associated exotic and native species. Prepare California Natural Diversity Database reports to share rare species data with State Agencies for the protection of those resources. Implement minimization measures to reduce the potential for “take” of federally listed species per ESA Section 7 consultations. Provide recommendations for habitat improvement to benefit federally listed or other sensitive species. Conduct pre-activity or pre-construction surveys, and monitoring per INRMPs and BOs. Implement habitat improvement measures as requested, such as local invasive species control, erosion control, replanting, reseeding, and relocation. Promptly report “take” of listed species to PWE and the FHL/PRFTA Police Department. Collect and maintain biological data per INRMP and installation SOPs. Refer to and maintain working drafts of
Endangered Species Management Components (ESMC); update and finalize as warranted.

Period of Performance. The base year of agreement will extend one year from award. Four option periods extending for one year are anticipated pending funds.
