Are you passionate about advocacy? Are you an NAU student and an Arizona resident? The Associated Students of Northern Arizona University (ASNAU) and Graduate Student Government (GSG) are looking for applicants for the next student regent to be appointed by the Governor and join the Arizona Board of Regents! This year, the student regent will be elected from Northern Arizona University and will serve from July 2024 to June 2026.
It is highly encouraged that applicants have a general understanding of the legislative process in the state of Arizona, a basic understanding of the functions of the Arizona Board of Regents, and a strong desire to represent students statewide. ABOR oversees things such as appointing university presidents and institution employees, establishing curricula and award degrees and administers the Technology and Research Initiative Fund. Each applicant must be a currently enrolled, full-time student at NAU with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 for undergraduates and a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 for graduate students. Applicants must be residents of the State of Arizona.
The application consists of basic personal information and certification, as well as four short essay questions. Three letters of recommendation, including one from a faculty member at NAU, an unofficial transcript and a resume containing employment and community involvement must be included with the application as well.
Applications are available on Handshake and are due October 23rd. The application must be completed on Handshake in order to be considered.
