Ethan Ostrom received the Young Investigator Award at the Society for Redox Biology and Medicine 2019 annual meeting in Las Vegas for his work “GCLC protein responses to acute exercise and exercise training are age and sex specific in humans”. His work, part of his doctoral dissertation, demonstrates sex differences in cell signaling and protein responses to an exercise intervention. This award includes free registration to next year’s meeting – congratulations to Ethan!

Tinna Traustadóttir presented work from the Traustadottir Lab at the 2019 SfRBM meeting in Las Vegas in a plenary session on Redox Signaling in Exercise Adaptation. Her talk titled “Redox Responses to Acute and Regular Exercise are Influenced by Age and Sex in Humans” and included data from work supported by the National Institute on Aging and NAU RBS Funding.

Undergraduate Researchers from the Traustadóttir Lab Present at a National Conference

Hannah Beskind, a recipient of a Hooper Undergraduate Research Award (HURA), and Nadja Jones, a RISE Fellow, presented a poster at the National Conference on Undergraduate Research held in Atlanta, GA in April 2019.

They presented preliminary data from their collaboration on the effects of combining acute exercise with phytonutrient stimulation done ex vivo on blood samples taken before and after the exercise. This project will continue… Read more

Congratulations to Ethan Ostrom for getting the award for best oral presentation (grad student, medical student, post-doc) at the 2018 Arizona Physiological Society Annual Meeting in Tempe, AZ.

His talk, “Aerobic exercise in older adults maintains Nrf2 signaling compared to inactive controls” presented preliminary data from the NIH-funded study and was co-authored by Nadja Jones, Savannah Berry, Ciara Terry, and Dr. Traustadóttir.
