What we do to help you
The Talent Search program selects over 800 participants from 26 schools including middle and high schools, as well as students who reside at Kinlaní Bordertown Dormitory annually. Students are evaluated for educational need and potential for success in secondary and post-secondary education and careers. We help students:
- thrive by providing guidance for academic success, career opportunities, and personal growth
- explore college campuses and diverse career options
- develop study and test-taking skills (including ACT/SAT prep)
- connect to high quality tutoring programs
- provide summer exploration opportunities and development
- coordinators visit each site bi-monthly for student visits
Services
Talent Search Coordinators help students by offering the following:
Academic advising Accordion Closed
- Bi-monthly visits to target schools
- Tutoring
- Academic and career advising
- SAT/ACT preparation
- Monthly grade reviews
- Note and test-taking skills
College preparation Accordion Closed
- Bi-monthly workshops on financial aid, college admittance and enrollment, resume and interview skills, etc.
- Guidance in the completion and review of college essays and applications
- Assistance with college admission tests
- University and community college visits including California Summer College Tour for upcoming seniors (open to juniors only)
- Summer program attendance such as the Nizhoní Academy (Open to Freshmen and Sophomores), Grand Canyon In Focus (middle school students only)
Financial aid assistance Accordion Closed
- Assistance and workshops in completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
- Scholarship research and application
- Financial aid literacy
- Annual Scholarship Day for Seniors each Spring Semester (Date TBD & held at NAU)
- FAFSA Day for Seniors (Date TBD – spring semester)

Northern Arizona College Resource Center (NACRC)
The mission of the Northern Arizona College Resource Center (NACRC) is to increase the number of students who apply, are admitted, and attend college by providing appropriate information, technical assistance, advice, and referrals to students and their families regarding applying to and financing college or university studies.
The NACRC is designed to provide information, technical assistance, advising, and referrals to students and their parents/guardians regarding all aspects of the college admissions and financial aid process. Services also include a variety of workshops and other community events to promote awareness of and access to post-secondary education.
