Animal user training and certification
Researchers, staff, and students involved in animal care and use activities must complete required certifications and training before participating in research.
New animal user training and certification requirements
- Fill out the Occupational health enrollment form.
- Log into Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) platform with your NAU credentials.
- Complete the courses listed below.
Take the following required courses via the CITI platform
- Working with the IACUC: Investigators, Staff and Students
- Responsible Conduct of Research for Biomedical Researchers
- Species Specific Courses
A certification to use animals in research expires every three years. Animal users who are renewing their certification must complete the Working with the IACUC: Investigators, Staff and Students – Basic Course.
The Office of Research Compliance (ORC) Animal Care provides security and general facility training for personnel who need access to the vivarium.
