Task 6: Predictions and Solutions
This task is a part of your evaluation of learning during this webquest.
Scientists make predictions about future events that might be caused by a problem in our environment. They also propose solutions to preventing those events. Read this sample page for information about adaptations and predictions scientists have made about the possible future of the pinyon pine.

Questions
Discuss each of these questions in your group. Then write thoughtful answers in your notebook. Remember the activities you have participated in and support your answers with information you have learned. Use your notes and student pages to help you as you work.
- Using what you have learned about the pinyon pine, climate change and the scale insect, what predictions can you make about the future of the pinyon pine if climate change continues? Be sure that you include evidence to support your predictions.
- Thinking about all you have learned in this webquest, what solution(s) can you think of that might change the progress of climate change and/or help the pinyon pine in its struggle against climate and the scale insect? What actions can you take in your community that might make a difference?
- You have learned about Native American uses of the Pinyon. How might Native Americans and their traditions be affected by the loss of populations of Pinyon or the movement of those populations?
- Your Personal Prediction: Think ahead 10 years in the future. Imagine yourself, your values and your activities. What will you be able to say that you have done for climate change?
