Directions for Websites, Task 4

“Western U.S. Climate Historical Summaries” Website

  1. Click on “New Selection Tool”
  2. Using the arrows and magnifying tool at the left, zoom in to your area.
  3. Click on “Show Stations”
  4. Choose the station nearest your location.
  5. Click on the red station marker.
  6. Open for climate data.
  7. On the left of this page there is a menu.
  8.  Find “Monthly Temperature Listings Average” Years will be on far left and the average monthly temperature will be on the far right.
  9. Locate the years you want by scrolling down the page.
  10. On the left menu, you will also find Precipitation.
  11.  Under Monthly Precipitation Listings, click on “Monthly Totals”.  Again the year is on the left and the total precipitation for that year is on the right.
  12.  Scroll down until you find the same years for which you recorded temperatures.

“Online Conversion” Website

  1. There is a large menu. Scroll down for Temperature.
  2. Convert your temperature.
  3. Then go back to the home page and choose Length to convert inches to centimeters.
  4. Choose the “from” as the degrees fahrenheit or the inches.
  5. Choose the “to” as the degrees Celsius or the centimeters.
  6. Your data will be converted into the metric measurements that you want to use in science data analysis.
