University Admissions Processing
The point of entry into Northern Arizona University
University Admissions Processing (UAP) is the primary unit responsible for prospect, applicant and transfer articulation processing. UAP’s core functionality is performed in four main areas: Graduate Operations, Data Management, Admissions Evaluations and Transfer Articulation. The descriptions of these operations are as follows:
- Graduate Operations: This area builds and maintains all program graduate applications and their associated admissions requirements in CollegeNet Admit. Additionally, this area is responsible for the daily loading of applicant data to PeopleSoft and the recording of all admissions decisions and associated communications. Graduate Operations partners with all academic units on the development of application and admissions requirements, deadlines and applicant status tracking.
- Data Management: This team intakes all student documents including transcripts, test scores and prospect inquiries. Additionally, Data Management plays a key role in admissions records management performing campus, program and term changes while also ensuring student bio/demo data is up-to-date.
- Admissions Evaluations: This area is the primary evaluator of all incoming undergraduate records. Through their efforts, they ensure that each NAU applicant has their full academic record evaluated against the Arizona Board of Regents standards and records the appropriate admission decision based on the evaluation. Like Data Management, this area also has responsibility for the management and upkeep of student data.
- Transfer Articulation: This team evaluates the externally completed college coursework for all admitted and attending NAU students to determine equivalency. Where appropriate, they coordinate directly with academic units to establish equivalency evaluation standards, approval routing methods and liberal study standards. This area maintains the equivalency rule bases that populate such transfer tools and JacksPath and AZTransfer’s CEG.
