The NAU Dental Hygiene Clinic is open to the public during the Spring, Summer, and Fall semesters!
Schedule your appointment today for affordable preventive dental services. At Northern Arizona University’s Dental Hygiene Clinic, you’ll receive high-quality preventive care provided by dedicated dental hygiene students under the supervision of experienced, licensed faculty.

- Wednesday: 8:00 am, 1:00 pm, or 5:00 pm

- Appointments with students are roughly 2.5 – 3.5 hours long.
- Please be mindful that this is a learning environment, and you are being seen by and working with student hygienists.
- Please plan on attending more than one appointment to complete your treatment.
- We kindly request at least 24 hours’ notice for any cancellations. Cancellations made less than 24 hours before your appointment will be considered a last-minute cancellation. After three last-minute cancellations or no-shows, you may be dismissed from our clinic.
- We will make several attempts to contact you to confirm your appointment. We kindly ask that you confirm via email or phone. If your appointment remains unconfirmed, it may be subject to cancellation.
- Please keep in mind that our students’ grades are directly impacted by patient attendance. If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, we kindly ask that you provide as much notice as possible. Your consideration truly supports our students’ success and learning experience.

- Payment is due at check-in. We accept Visa, Mastercard, cash, and checks. (These fees cover any appointment necessary to complete your treatment plan).
- We do not accept insurance or AHCCCS, and we do not bill insurance.
- Fee for service:
- $70 for adults
- $65 for NAU students, alumni, faculty, staff, and senior citizens over the age of 65.
- Our services are FREE for Veterans! – Please let us know if you are a veteran at check-in.
- $45 for children 13 and under.
- County Voucher – Free (ask our front office at check-in if you qualify)

Services Offered Accordion Closed
As a Dental Hygiene program, we provide preventive dental hygiene services only. We do not offer restorative or oral surgery procedures such as extractions, fillings, crowns, or root canals.
If restorative or oral surgery treatment is needed, we are happy to provide a referral to a local dental office.
We provide:
- blood pressure screening
- oral cancer screening
- dental examination
- periodontal assessment (evaluation for gum disease)
- education related to oral health
- radiographs (X-rays)
- dental hygiene therapy (prophylaxis)
- conservative periodontal therapy (scaling, root planning, and periodontal maintenance)
- fluoride application
- sealants (coating to prevent decay on the chewing surfaces of teeth)
- teeth whitening (Please see requirements below)
- Must be a patient with the NAU Dental Hygiene Clinic
- Must have had teeth cleaning here within the last 6 months
- Whitening is only available during the second half of the NAU spring semester each year

Getting to the Clinic
Coming from the South (Phoenix/Sedona): I-17 becomes Milton Rd when you enter town. From I-17 / Milton Rd., take the McConnell Dr. exit 341 on right. This exit appears as you first approach town. At the end of the McConnell Dr. exit, turn right at the stop sign on to McConnell Dr. Turn right again at the next, immediately appearing, three way stop sign, onto Pine Knoll Dr. (There is a large Northern Arizona University sign at this corner.) Go straight through the first 4 way stop, and at the second 4 way stop sign on Pine Knoll Dr. turn left into the Health Professions parking lot. You may also go past this stop sign and use the second entrance to our parking lot; you will now be headed directly toward our loading dock.
Coming from the North along Milton Rd. in Flagstaff: Turn east onto University Drive (there is a stop light at this intersection with a Target store on the NE corner and a shopping center with a KFC and an Arby’s on the SE corner). Turn right at the first traffic light, this will put you onto Knoles Dr. Proceed over the hill on Knoles Dr. until the stop sign at the bottom of the hill (McConnell Circle). Turn right on McConnell Dr. and go to the next stop sign (Pine Knoll Drive); turn left onto Pine Knoll Dr. Go straight through the first 4 way stop, and at the second 4 way stop sign on Pine Knoll Dr. turn left into the Health Professions parking lot. You may also go past this stop sign and use the second entrance to our parking lot; you will now be headed directly toward our loading dock.
Coming from I-40: take exit #341 – McConnell Dr. At the stop sign at the bottom of the off-ramp, turn right onto McConnell Circle. Turn right at the next, immediately appearing, stop sign (Pine Knoll Dr). Please enter the front entrance at the west end of the Health Professions building. Turn right into the first hallway. At the end of the hall (east end), turn right; the elevator is now on your right (southeast end of building).

The university requires patients to have parking permits displayed in all vehicles. Please see our Parking Guidelines.
Parking Kiosk:
- A parking kiosk coupon code will be provided to you when you confirm your appointment.
- You must park in Lot P46 or P48, or any regular parking space (not service or pay-to-park).
- Please do not back in, unless you have an NAU-issued front license plate.
- Your parking receipt must be displayed on your dashboard to avoid a citation.
How to use the parking kiosk:
- Press any key to begin
- Enter your license plate number
- Select patient parking
- Enter coupon code
- Display the printed receipt on the passenger-side dashboard (printed side up)
If the kiosk is not working, please bring your license plate number to check in.

Preventive Care Voucher: The Preventive Care Voucher is designed to assist adults in obtaining preventive dental care. The program is open to income qualified adults who either have no insurance or are on AHCCCS. How to Obtain a Preventive Care Voucher:
Present in person in Flagstaff to complete an application. If approved, vouchers will be issued at the time of application. You can also fill out the application and bring it with you to your appointment!
