CHHS Celebrates Award-Winning PA Faculty and Student Leaders

Northern Arizona University’s College of Health and Human Services proudly celebrates the achievements of its Physician Assistant Studies faculty and students who were recently recognized at the Arizona State Association of Physician Assistants annual conference. These honors highlight the college’s continued commitment to excellence in education, leadership, and service within Arizona’s healthcare community. The conference brings together physician assistants and healthcare professionals from across the state, recognizing individuals who are making meaningful contributions to the profession and advancing patient care.

One of the honorees, Nick Goodman, MPAS, PA-C, Assistant Clinical Professor, received the PA Faculty Excellence Award, recognizing his dedication to teaching, mentorship, and student success. Lilly Thurlow, a second-year PA student, was named PA Student of the Year, an award that reflects not only her academic achievement, but her leadership and commitment to the profession. In addition, Jacob Gubler, DMSc, PA-C, Chair and Associate Clinical Professor, was honored with the Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) Excellence Award for his leadership in advancing inclusive practices and fostering a more equitable healthcare environment.

Together, these recognitions reflect the strength of NAU’s PA program and its focus on preparing compassionate, skilled providers ready to serve diverse communities across Arizona. Through dedicated faculty leadership and outstanding student achievement, the program continues to make a lasting impact on the future of healthcare in the state.
