For NAU staff, students, and faculty that are looking for volunteer opportunities in the Flagstaff area, there are local organizations offering opportunities to serve outside of our national service programs.

Health Coach - Diné Household Water Survey and Paws-itive Change Dog Project	Johns Hopkins Center for Indigenous Health	Fort Defiance	Assisting with community engagement, participant outreach, informed consent, data collection (surveys and interviews), and maintaining accurate records. This role offers the member an opportunity to contribute to improving water access and promoting positive relationships between the Diné People and dogs.	PHA	ASAP	46 Weeks
Research Assistant - Infectious Disease Prevention	Johns Hopkins Center for Indigenous Health	Fort Defiance	Support community-based public health research focused on infectious disease prevention. They will engage with eligible individuals to discuss research study opportunities, clearly explaining study goals, procedures, risks, and benefits.	PHA	ASAP	50 Weeks
Coordinated Entry Support Specialist	Catholic Charities Community Services	Yavapai County	The member will assist with intake, data entry, and referrals to improve access and reduce barriers to housing resources. This role strengthens community collaboration and enhances service coordination within the local Continuum of Care.	PHA	2/16/2026	18 Weeks
Active Adult and Senior Services Navigator	City of Surprise	Surprise	Represent the Human Service and Community Vitality Department and serve as the contact for members to arrange for transportation via Uber and Lyft to and from the Senior Center, assist with administrative tasks, tabling events and assisting residents seeking information about services offered by the department. Environmental Educator	Camp Colton / The Nature Conservancy	Flagstaff	Serve alongside science educators in support of the design and implementation of student-driven outdoor learning projects in and around Hart Prairie. Become the preserve’s primary interpretive naturalists leading groups and individuals on programs they helped to design.	ELC	4/20/2026	30 Weeks
Environmental Education Outreach Coordinator	The Nature Conservancy	Hereford	Coordinate volunteers to help provide outreach to local communities and provide environmental education experiences, develop curricula that will lead to knowledge and understanding of the values and benefits of an environment that supports plants, animals and human life on earth. Public Health Emergency Preparedness Planner Apprentice	Coconino County Health and Human Services	Flagstaff	performs work of moderate difficulty assisting in the development, implementation, and managing of departmental activities related to public health preparedness planning.
