Public Health AmeriCorps
Public Health AmeriCorps (PHA) members will serve with local agencies and organizations to promote public health in Northern Arizona and beyond. Most of our Public Health AmeriCorps members will be in their last year of NAU’s B.S. Public Health program, where they will serve their academic internships as AmeriCorps members. Public Health AmeriCorps members will help meet the needs of our local communities by providing additional capacity and support at our partner organizations and their service activities will fall under the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s 10 Essential Public Health Services. In addition to providing well-trained extra capacity at local organizations, this will strengthen career pathways for early career public health professionals.
What Are The Benefits?
As a Public Health AmeriCorps member you will receive:
- An 18-40 week opportunity to serve with us, full or part time
- A bi-weekly living stipend
- A Segal Education Award upon completion of your service term
Additionally, Public Health AmeriCorps members also enrolled in HS 408 will receive the normal array of supports available to HS 408 interns.
Where Can You Volunteer?
Most of our host sites are in the greater Flagstaff area, though we are also actively pursuing host sites in the Phoenix and Tucson metropolitan areas and may have offerings in other parts of Arizona, too.
