For NAU staff, students, and faculty that are looking for volunteer opportunities in the Flagstaff area, there are local organizations offering opportunities to serve outside of our national service programs.

Teacher Resident | AZ K-12 Center | Phoenix | The AmeriCorps Member in the Arizona Teacher Residency program serves as an assistant and apprentice in the classroom of a skilled Supervising Teacher 4 days a week, with the 5th day being spent in training hours to support this experience. |
Peer Support Specialist | College Depot | Phoenix | The College Depot AmeriCorps positions will perform a variety of assignments related to assisting prospective college students and their families prepare for a postsecondary education, providing assistance in completing the FAFSA, college/career planning, admissions applications, scholarships, and other related steps. |
SI Leader | NAU Academic Success Centers | Flagstaff | An SI Leader/AmeriCorps Member is a peer facilitator who facilitates 2 or 3 study sessions each week for students who are taking the course they support. The SI Leader works with their Faculty Partner to identify patterns of difficulty for students taking the course and material/concepts that need to be emphasized at a given time. |
AmeriCorps Marketing and Outreach Specialist | NAU College of Arts and Letters Marketing Team | Flagstaff | Members will assist in creation and management of social media campaigns, and design and distribute both visuals and content in support of arts and humanities events on campus and in the broader community with the aim of celebrating the arts and humanities and highlighting skills and career opportunities connected to the same. |

TDM Fellow | MetroPlan | Flagstaff | Proactively work to make walking and biking easier and more attractive. They will support bike to work month, right sizing streets, road closure demonstrations, and help create a Safe Routes to School program. |

Killip Elementary School | Flagstaff | Work with the STEM Coordinator, teachers, and community members to not only help provide the students at Killip with education on environmental issues but assist with projects that include composting, recycling, water conservation, alternative energy, and planting. |
Action Project for Pollinators Coordinator | Women in Science and Engineering Program | Tucson | Partner teachers and K-12 students to conceptualize and carry out Action Projects that advance biodiversity conservation and resilience in the face of climate change – specifically local pollinator conservation. |
