For NAU staff, students, and faculty that are looking for volunteer opportunities in the Flagstaff area, there are local organizations offering opportunities to serve outside of our national service programs.

College Advisor | NACRC | Flagstaff | The College Advisor presents workshops to students on various topics focusing on college readiness and provides one-on-one advising on college preparation directly to high school students. |

Listening and Learning Commercial Project Intern | City of Phoenix Water Services Department | Phoenix | Project Intern will be entering their community on planned, formal, informal, and unplanned listening missions. AmeriCorps Members will be working as a pair, will conduct interviews and distribute surveys by utilizing standard questions sets and will adapt their discussions based on the feedback from the community. Intern will focus on identifying barriers to water savings and assess the needs, values, and concerns of community members and will also connect community members with existing resources. |
Teacher Listening Series Project Intern | City of Phoenix Water Services Department | Phoenix | The Project Intern's focus would be the planning and implementation of a Teacher Listening Series in the summer of 2024. This internship would consist of multiple days of educator trainings, smaller cohort discussions, discussions about the needs of educators and schools regarding water conservation and resource topics, and more. |
Teacher Listening Series Project Intern | City of Phoenix Water Services Department | Phoenix | The Tree Equity Assistant Project Intern will be working with the urban forestry team in the Office of Heat Response and Mitigation to grow and sustain a healthy tree canopy in underserved neighborhoods in Phoenix. |
Heat Resilience Project Intern | City of Phoenix Office of Heat Response and Mitigation | Phoenix | Heat Resilience Project Intern will serve in a multifaceted role, supporting the Heat Response Program Manager and Heat Resilience Project Management Assistant to assist with built environment heat mitigation projects and heat response and community outreach projects. |
Climate Outreach Specialist | City of Phoenix Office of Sustainability | Phoenix | As education and outreach activities are the catalyst for climate change and the foundation to advancing success, the Climate Outreach Specialist will engage directly with Phoenix communities to establish connections and promote inclusive climate change education opportunities for programs focused on but not limited to: electric vehicles, energy efficiency, local food, green business program, water conservation, zero-waste, home weatherization, as well as highlighting incentives available from local government, utilities, and federal grants. |
