Web accessibility
Northern Arizona University is committed to inclusivity and diversity; we focus our efforts to create a rich learning experience for the entire university community.
Accessibility versus usability
Web accessibility ensures that users with disabilities can access the content on your website, so all of our students will have access to educational material.
Web usability is how easily a user can navigate your website in order to take a particular action, such as submitting an application or completing an online assignment.
Compliance is mandatory
A commitment to accessibility is the right thing: it gives all of our students, faculty, and staff the opportunity to succeed. However, we are also required to comply with accessibility standards. Federal law mandates that people with disabilities must have access to electronic information. There are consequences for noncompliance, such as civil lawsuits.
