{"id":4202,"date":"2023-02-24T11:46:44","date_gmt":"2023-02-24T18:46:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nau.edu\/yuma\/?p=4202"},"modified":"2023-07-13T21:45:53","modified_gmt":"2023-07-13T21:45:53","slug":"welcome-monica-acosta","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/yuma\/blog\/welcome-monica-acosta\/","title":{"rendered":"NAU\u2013Yuma Professor to Students: Pursuing Higher Ed Goes Beyond Obtaining Academic Degrees"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>\u201cPursuing education is not just about obtaining higher academic degrees,\u201d says Dr. Monica Acosta Alvarado, assistant clinical professor of Business and lead faculty at NAU\u2013Yuma. \u201cIt is about learning to learn, widening your vision and perspective, reaffirming your values, and beyond all that, being able to make a positive impact on the people around you, on your community, and ultimately on the world.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/yuma\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/378\/2023\/02\/moe0-213x300-1.png\" alt=\"Dr. Monica Acosta Alvarado\" class=\"wp-image-6348\" width=\"300\" height=\"425\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>With a passion for organizational dynamics, entrepreneurship, and business growth acceleration, Acosta Alvarado earned a Doctor of Business Administration degree with a concentration in Strategic Planning from CETYS University. Having served as director of International Rankings for the CETYS University System as well as MBA academic coordinator and full-time professor at the CETYS Graduate Business School, she began teaching business courses part-time at <span class=\"x7l2uk3 xt0e3qv\">#NAUYuma<\/span> five years ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now, the full-time NAU Yuma professor teaches Business courses for the BBA and MGBA programs. \u201cEducation is my calling,\u201d she says. \u201cI love learning and sharing gained knowledge, and I believe that through education is how we can change the world.
