{"id":4292,"date":"2018-05-17T22:43:41","date_gmt":"2018-05-17T22:43:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/web\/?p=4292"},"modified":"2019-06-14T15:11:33","modified_gmt":"2019-06-14T22:11:33","slug":"wug-notes-16-may-2018","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/web\/wug-notes-16-may-2018\/","title":{"rendered":"WUG Notes 16 May 2018"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Web Users Group Meeting Notes 5\/16\/18<\/h3>\n<p><em>Notes courtesy of Mary S., WCM Support student web publisher extraordinaire!<\/em><\/p>\n<p>WordHerd<br \/>\nWill migrate sites in batches<br \/>\nThis will allow for us to catch surprises and anomalies<br \/>\nProgress will look like an exponential curve, instead of a 50\/50 split<br \/>\nStill targeting July launch for migrated sites<\/p>\n<p>Which sites will be going first?<br \/>\nTBD<br \/>\nWe are trying to find logistics and connections within the sites<\/p>\n<p>Will there be a list published of sites and when they\u2019re going through?<br \/>\nSite stakeholders will be notified when their batch is up<br \/>\nEktron sites should only be updated if necessary<\/p>\n<p>DIY migration<br \/>\nThe official cut off was 5\/15<br \/>\nThose who didn\u2019t get it in will migrate with WordHerd<br \/>\nDIYers can still work on the sites in the meanwhile<br \/>\nCan swap sites post-launch if need be<\/p>\n<p>Can reach out to WCM team for details about status of specific sites (wcm-support@nau.edu)<\/p>\n<p>We are using Siteimprove to monitor our sites<br \/>\nEventually will be rolling Siteimprove out for all<br \/>\nExpect future training and comms<\/p>\n<p>Accessibility Analysis\/Review<br \/>\nTesting pages one by one, electronically and manually<br \/>\nLooking for missing headers within pages<br \/>\nWill be changing some theme colors for contrast<\/p>\n<p>WordHerd cont.<br \/>\nWill be bringing menus as is (replicating Ektron menus)<br \/>\nReviewing menus by hand to make sure that it follows a standard<br \/>\nEventually giving opportunity to directly edit<br \/>\nDIYers can send menu proposals to wcm-support@nau.edu<br \/>\nIf already working with Patty, continue working with her<br \/>\nIf missed mid-May deadline, may or may not happen pre-launch<\/p>\n<p>What format for the menu?<br \/>\nJust a simple outline (ex. bullet point list)<\/p>\n<p>Hoping to come up with a standard paradigm for menu editing (long term goal)<br \/>\nSite in a Box is a good reference in the meanwhile<br \/>\nPossible information architecture and user-experience workshops and\/or training<br \/>\nWeb Coordinator = menu gatekeeper for unit?<br \/>\nPossible for some, but not all coordinators<\/p>\n<p>eCommerce?<br \/>\nLMS may be launching in the fall w\/ online payments<br \/>\nDon\u2019t want to be storing unimportant information<br \/>\nPCI compliance &#8211; making sure that information is secured<br \/>\nMight require a redirect for payment<\/p>\n<p>Possible new calendar platform<br \/>\nMay help with \/ work for secure payment options<\/p>\n<p>Likely will hand access back to Site Stewards and Publishers till after migrated sites launch<\/p>\n<p>Please keep an eye out for sites that don\u2019t have a Site Steward or anyone attached with it<br \/>\nWe want to be avoiding \u201corphan\u201d sites<\/p>\n<p>There are concerns about having access to \u201cclean up\u201d sites after migration<br \/>\nLook to Web Coordinators to help fill in personnel and ownership gaps<br \/>\nDo we have to wait till 7\/1 to submit user access for sites that don\u2019t exist?<br \/>\nMight not need the paper trail, but looking for alternates for the forms<br \/>\nAny ideas for alternatives, please let us know<\/p>\n<p>Will there be campus-wide communication?<br \/>\nLeading up to the launch there should be a general notification to everyone<br \/>\nWe will continue to stay in close contact with coordinators, stewards, publishers<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Web Users Group Meeting Notes 5\/16\/18 Notes courtesy of Mary S., WCM Support student web publisher extraordinaire!
