Department of Defense tuition assistance<\/strong><\/h1>\n

NAU is proud to offer a tuition rate of $250 per credit hour for all Department of Defense tuition assistance (DODTA) eligible undergraduate and graduate students. Please carefully read the steps contained on this page or in the printable DODTA checklist<\/a>.<\/p>\n

All students utilizing DODTA must receive approval prior to using tuition assistance from your education services officer (ESO), military counsel, or service prior to each enrollment. Please click on the service branch portals provided on this website for more information. This must be completed prior to the first day of class or tuition assistance will not be approved by the Department of Defense. Please submit the approved tuition assistance (TA) authorization form to the link provided.<\/p>\n

Submit your courses for certification through your NAU student center (LOUIE)<\/strong><\/p>\n

In order for NAU to initiate and administer your military benefits, this step is required. The process provides NAU-verified permission to submit your request for said benefits and ensures that the courses you are taking are part of your degree progression plan as is a federal requirement. Additionally, this will ensure you are added to our student group providing the coveted benefit of early registration for all future terms at NAU.<\/p>\n

Per DOD MOU, Northern Arizona University refrains from providing any commission, bonus, or other incentive payment based directly or indirectly on securing enrollments or federal financial aid (including tuition assistance funds) to any persons or entities engaged in any student recruiting, admission activities, or making decisions regarding the award of student financial assistance.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

Per DOD MOU, Northern Arizona University refrains from high-pressure recruitment tactics such as making multiple unsolicited contacts (3 or more), including contacts by phone, email, or in-person, and engaging in same-day recruitment and registration for the purpose of securing service member enrollments.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

Per DOD MOU, Northern Arizona University will provide service members access to an institutional financial aid advisor who will make available appropriate loan counseling, including disclosing the educational institution’s student loan cohort default rate (CDR), the percentage of its students who borrow, and how its CDR compares to the national average. If the educational institution’s CDR is greater than the national average CDR, Northern Arizona University will disclose that information and provide the service member with loan repayment data.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

Return of unearned tuition assistance policy: Military tuition assistance (TA) is awarded to a service member under the assumption the service member will attend classes for the entire period for which the TA is awarded. Eligibility for TA is class specific. Please review our policy and accompanying table<\/a> for information regarding your financial liability in the event of a course withdrawal.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

Our military-connected students fall under the purview of the university-wide re-admission policy in that the nuances and challenges that our students face due to military obligations are addressed through departmental resources and procedures to best support our students.
