Fall 2026 – Changes

Campus is considering changes on how bikes, scooters, skateboards and other transit devices operate on campus. This applies to both manual and electric bikes/ devices.

Fall 2026 Update –

Northern Arizona University is continuing to evaluate a policy that will govern the use, storage, and charging of e-micromobility devices, including e-bikes and e-scooters, on campus. E-micromobility devices are not permitted in campus buildings, including for storage or charging. This restriction is intended to reduce fire and life safety risks associated with lithium-ion batteries.

Campus Living Community Policies prohibit e-scooters, e-bikes, e-skateboards, hoverboards, and similar micromobility devices because of the safety risks posed by lithium-ion batteries, potential impediments to emergency egress, and the potential for significant facility damage.

These policies are not intended to prohibit devices for individuals with mobility disabilities. Please contact Disability Resources for more information.

Ride Safely

Bikes, scooters, skateboards and walking – let’s all share the space better together. Please read the Ride Safely information to get started!

Save Money with Alternative Transit

Northern Arizona University ranked GOLD from the League of American Bicyclists and is recognized as a Bike Friendly University. Bikes, scooters and skateboards are used campus wide as a sustainable and economical form of campus transportation.

Ditch the car and parking fees and use alternative transit instead. Using a bike, scooter, or skateboard is convenient and easy. Bike racks are located close to most buildings and there are designated lanes just for bike users. Many buildings have skateboard racks as well. The pedway is a great option for all wheeled devices.

Please be aware of campus policies that govern the use of alternative devices on campus including that bikes must only be locked to bike racks and bikes locked to railings or areas not designated as bike parking may be removed and impounded at owner’s expense.

We strongly recommend your bike be registered with University Transit Services.
