Becoming a healthcare professional can be a long journey. This guide will help you plan ahead so you\u2019ll be ready for when you graduate.<\/p>\n\n

Admissions committees consider the following when deciding to admit you to their program:<\/p>\n
\n
Cumulative GPA<\/li>\n
Science GPA for medicine (Biology, Chemistry, Math, Physics)<\/li>\n
Letters of recommendation<\/li>\n
Hands on experience (volunteer and paid positions)<\/li>\n
Community service and other extracurricular activities<\/li>\n
Completing pre-requisite courses<\/li>\n
Score on the entrance exam<\/li>\n

maintain an updated and detailed timeline of your next few years of preparation, including:\n

courses and entrance exams to be taken<\/li>\n
plans for clinical experience<\/li>\n
application cycle deadlines<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
continue or begin gaining clinical experience in places such as:\n
\n
Flagstaff Medical Center Hospital<\/a><\/li>\n
North Country Healthcare<\/a><\/li>\n
Taylor House<\/a><\/li>\n
consider research opportunities in the biology<\/a> and chemistry<\/a> departments<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n

sign up to take your entrance exam<\/a><\/li>\n
prepare for your entrance exam<\/li>\n
consider authors and request letters of recommendation<\/li>\n
begin working on your personal statement<\/li>\n
research schools to which you intend to apply<\/li>\n
continue gaining clinical experience, and any research or community service<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
Spring term<\/h4>\n
During your spring term, we suggest you:<\/p>\n

continue seeing your premedical advisor<\/li>\n
continue taking prerequisite courses, as well as those needed for your degree plan<\/li>\n
prepare for your entrance exam<\/a><\/li>\n
take your entrance exam<\/li>\n
follow up with letter of recommendation authors<\/li>\n
prepare for applications, which typically open between May and June<\/li>\n
begin asking individuals for letters of recommendation from academic faculty and from your clinical experience<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
Summer after junior year<\/h4>\n
During summer, we suggest you:<\/p>\n

send in your primary application<\/li>\n
consider taking your entrance exam<\/a><\/li>\n
anticipate the arrival of secondary applications<\/li>\n
