Bodies are MEANT to be different shapes and sizes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fat shaming or skinny shaming, whether it\u2019s coming from others, or yourself, gets in your head and leads to poor self-confidence, body image issues, and disordered eating.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Struggling with accepting your body? Or do you ever catch yourself secretly judging someone else for their body? Let\u2019s stop body shaming together!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Below are ways to help you change your mindset when it comes to your or other\u2019s bodies:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Follow body positive accounts on social media (check out last weeks <a href=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/ucan\/change-your-instagram-feed-change-your-life\/\">blog<\/a> on the best accounts!).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Write positive notes about yourself and place them around the house or on mirrors.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Listen to different podcasts about body acceptance.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Next time you hear someone start shaming another person\u2019s body stand up and tell them it\u2019s not okay to be doing that and teach them about body acceptance.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Be kind and supportive to others and their journey of self love.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hating your body is not only a rough road, mentally, it has been linked to negative physical health outcomes too. Join the <a href=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/ucan\/about\/\">body inclusivity movement<\/a>, which promotes a positive self image. To heck with that outdated mold of what the \u201cideal\u201d body should look like! What matters most is how you FEEL about yourself.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Living in today\u2019s society can make it hard to love our bodies. We are constantly bombarded with images of what the \u201cideal\u201d body is. The truth is, there isn\u2019t any \u201cideal\u201d body;<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0every<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> body is ideal.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Wanna know why?&#8230;&#8230; BECAUSE IT&#8217;S YOURS!!! And, it\u2019s the only one you\u2019ve got.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Society has warped our views of our body to always compare it to the celebrities or models or athletes, when in reality, we should be loving our bodies because they are so incredible and can do so much for us each day. And, here\u2019s the irony &#8211; the folks we compare our bodies to are often just as insecure about their bodies as we are!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Be proud of what your body can do today. Love your body, fuel your body, take care of your body and think twice the next time you have something bad to say about your body\u2026 is it really your body that\u2019s wrong? Or mainstream society that says it\u2019s wrong?
